Synesthesia is my super power (besides making snacks). I have to close my eyes to access this power, and really focus on what I am hearing. It is like a personal Fantasia. This happens when I hear music or feel intense emotions. The color comes in into my mind's eye like a living organism; moving, bending, and transforming as the song progresses.

With synesthesia I see colors dance, splash and meld together in my mind. What I see when I listen to music is actively moving like an ocean wave. Layers of colorful shapes and texture rush into mind.

The Color of Music is a three large painting collection that was created in collaboration with my musician husband Chad Patterson. He wrote three songs over the last two years and I am delighted to share my interpretation of his music.

Each painting has bright, neon colors with emotional, expressive marks. I have added a variety of materials including my own hair to the largest painting, “All That I Like.”
